Una foto antes del show de CHIC
Esta noche justo antes del show de CHIC, nos tomamos una foto y podía oír la orquesta tocando la Quinta Sinfonía de Beethoven en el fondo. Irónico - en muchos niveles.
Antes de mi éxito con CHIC, músico genial Walter Murphy hizo una adaptación brillante de esta sinfonía famosa y la llamó "A Fifth of Beethoven" por Walter Murphy y The Big Apple Band. Nosotros también nos llamábamos The Big Apple Band, pero después del éxito de Walter tuvimos que cambiar nuestro nombre a CHIC.
Las ciudades de esta gira por Alemania son casi idénticas a las ciudades en las que toque en el la última gira con The Big Apple Band apoyando el grupo New York City ("I'm Doing Fine Now"). Hay tantas cosas que se sienten como un círculo completo en mi vida y es un poco espantozo.

"Hotel Holiday Inn Motel", fue la letra que comencé a cantar cuando miré por la ventana esta mañana. Es simplemente la forma en que funciona mi mente. Veo algo, en este caso una bandera, y me sale una canción.
"Rapper's Delight" es siempre propensa a aparecer, no sólo porque es una de mis mayores canciones publicadas, per porque tiene tanta letra, y cuando empiezo a cantarla la canto hasta al final.
Después de terminar mis quehaceres diarios en el centro de negocios, me miró por encima del horario de mañana, lo que demuestra que tengo una entrevista. Tan pronto como vi la entrevista de "la palabra de mi interior DJ empezó a girar: "I was walking home late one dark afternoon, reporter stopped me for an interview. I said, 'By the way baby what's your name,' she said, 'I go by the name of Louis Lane. And you can be my boyfriend, you surely can. Just let me quit my boyfriend called Superman.' I said"... bueno, lo que dije fue el resto de la canción.

Feliz día de Thanksgiving! Hoy estoy en Hamburgo con las chicas de CHIC, preparandonos para un mes de conciertos en toda Alemania. Estaremos de gira con Seal, Alyson Moyet y Stanfour para Night of the Proms. También voy a estar rebotando en el Reino Unido, promoviendo mi libro "Le Freak".
En los últimos días he estado mostrando video inspirados por mensajes de John Landis. El ha dirigido muchas películas notables, entre ellos la de Eddie Murphy, "Un Príncipe en Nueva York", que fue mi primer arreglo orquestal para película.

Ayer hablé acerca de cómo John Landis se puso en contacto conmigo y como estaba muy feliz de saber de él. El resto del día lo pasé pensado mucho sobre el tiempo que pasé haciendo la banda sonora de "Un Príncipe en Nueva York". Fue mi primer gran arreglo para orquesta para una película y detallo la historia en mi libro, "Le Freak".

Eddie Murphy y yo de fiesta en los años 80 despues de terminar Coming to America
La vida siempre esta Llena de Sorpresas. La semana pasada recibí una carta misteriosa cuando estaba en Londres haciendo entrevistas para mi libro Le Freak, y hoy también recibí un email de la misma persona. Me hicieron sonreir. La correspondencia era de John Landis, director del video Michael Jackson's "Thriller" y la película de Eddie Murphy, "Coming to America". Esa película fue mi primera banda sonora orquestal importante. Estaba muy contento de saber de él. La história de mis arréglos para Coming to America esta detallada en mi libro.
Mi estudio de grabación en Paramount era EL lugar. De un momento al otro, recibí visitas de gente como James Earl Jones, Oprah Winfrey, Apollonia, Paula Abdul y cualquier numbero de artistas, pero el pulso del estúdio era la música y los músicos. Gracias, John por darme la oportunidad y por escribirme las dos veces. La vida si que siempre es Llena de Sorpresas.

Cuando comencé The CHIC Organization con Bernard Edwards, era antes de que se popularizaron los sub-woofers. Para acentuar las frecuencias bajas, siempre hacíamos que el bombo y el bajo tenían mas presencia que los otros discos de música pop. Era un método de R & B que me sirve bien también hoy en día.

Terminando mi caminata esta mañana
Fui a caminar al aire fresco temprano esta mañana. Al salir, miré hacia atrás y pude ver el reflejo del Sol Naciente en mi casa. No sé por qué, pero el reflejo me hizo pensar en Bernard Edwards, mi ex-socio y co-fundador de The CHIC Organization. Falleció hace quince años y este año el canal Japonés WOWOW hizo un documental sobre mí. Una parte importante de este documental se trata sobre la muerte de Bernard. Murió en Japón, conocida como la tierra del Sol Naciente.

Mi querida e-familia, los quiero a todos mucho. Sus pensamientos, oraciones y guía son clave para ayudarme con mi lucha contra el cáncer, pero he estado lejos de mi guitarra por dos semanas. Es una Epiphone ES-295 que estaba sentado en el escenario de la obra musical de Broadway "Grease" - hasta que lo enganché. Me encanta demasiadamente y realmente la he extrañado. Estoy en vía a casa
Hoy me voy de Inglaterra de vuelta a casa por unos días. Pronto, me ire de gira con Seal, Alison Moyet, y Stanfour.
Nos presentaremos en Alemania, tocando en Aida - Night of the Proms. He tocado con la orquesta "Night of the Proms" anteriormente, son como familia, de hecho, estan al final de mi Video Bio Clip.

La vista de mi habitación esta mañana
Me levanté temprano esta mañana para encontrarme con director / productor de cine que estaba en la ciudad filmando una película, y que había leído mi libro, "Le Freak". Hablamos de hacer una película sobre mi vida.
En un momento me preguntó, "¿Alguien filmó tu banda antes de que se volvieron CHIC?" Respondí: "Hace unas semanas vi una filmaciónes de la banda que se convertiría a CHIC. Gracioso Que Lo Preguntes."
