朝日
僕の朝の散歩の終わり
今朝早く、僕は爽やかな空気の中散歩をした。(家を)離れる時、僕は振り返って僕の家に朝日が反射しているところを見ることが出来た。何故だか分からないが、朝日の反射は僕に、僕の昔のパートナーでThe CHIC Organizationの共同創立者であったバーナード・エドワーズを思い出させる。彼は15年前に亡くなり、今年の早い時期に日本の(TV)ネットワークWOWOWは僕のドキュメンタリーを撮った。彼は昇る太陽の地(日出づる国)として知られる日本で亡くなり、このフィルムの重要な部分はバーナードの死を扱っている。

ホテルの部屋からの早朝の眺め
僕は今朝、この街に映画撮影の為に滞在中で、僕の自叙伝 "Le Freak." を読んだと言う監督／プロデューサーと会う為に早起きした。僕らは映画を作ることについて、そして僕の人生について話した。
ある個所で僕は尋ねられた。「CHICになる前に、あなたのホームムービーを撮った人がいますか？」と。僕は「数週間前、僕は偶然CHICになるバンドで演奏している僕の映像を観たところだよ。面白いね。(それを)尋ねられるなんて。」と答えた。

約一年前、僕は進行性の前立腺癌と診断された。数日後に、右手が殆ど使えなくなるという神経系の事件が起こった。僕は、筋肉損傷を被ったという事を示す幾つもの痛みを伴うテストを受けたが、その原因は定かではなかった。
100%完全に戻った訳ではないものの、この最近のロンドンでのショーで僕の右手が回復しているのを見る事ができるだろう
"Le Freak" (おしゃれフリーク)"は、右手の動きを止めず、そしてその動きが正確でなくてはならないという一番演奏が難しいCHICの曲だ。このビデオは、沢山の人々がステージの上で楽しんでいるところを示しており、それはまた新たな始まりも示している。
