We Are Glamily Too

March 27, 2013

After Hurricane Sandy countless people helped out. I took this photo on Staten Island

Hurricane Sandy was devastating to the American northeast. I'm not sure if this area will ever fully recover, but I'm sure we'll keep trying. Since that awful tragedy, I've continued to see kindness related to the recovery in the most unique situations.

Our charity, the We Are Family Foundation, had to change the date of our annual Gala because the monster hurricane hit New York City within minutes of our scheduled October 2012 event. Our priorities shifted and countless people including myself, donated their time, money, and what ever they could to try and aid the storm's victims.

We rescheduled our event and another tragic situation befell our 2012 Humanitarian Honorees Sting and Trudie Styler, which rendered them unavailable to be with us. Since we had a number of teens coming from all over the world we decided we couldn't postpone the Gala again. Our honorees Jeni Stepanek and Daniel Stern were joined by Adam Lambert, who along with Sam Sparro, Taylor Dayne, comedian Russell Peters (who's also top-notch DJ), Grandmaster Melle Mel, Grandmaster Caz, photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, co-hosts Rosie Perez & Touré, as well as my band CHIC gave people a night to remember.

I'm happy to say that on April 11, 2013 we'll honor our commitment to honor Sting and Trudie, two people who tirelessly work to make this planet better for us all to live on. Because of the series of tragedies that affected both our Gala and the rescheduled Gala, we've promised people who'd paid for the Sting & Trudie event free admission to our April 11, 2013 event. Our parties are always a blast!

A number of Adam Lambert fans, who are nicknamed Glamberts, attended our rescheduled event and knew about our free admission promise to certain people. Adam Lambert not only has a big passionate voice and a big compassionate heart, he has very compassionate fans. Here's a tweet I saw on my timeline yesterday: @OutlandoGirl: @nilerodgers some very sweet @adamlambert fans gifted their tickets for the @OfficialSting event to Sting fans. :) We are all family.

I was so moved by this that I'll personally gift tickets to the first 25 fans and one guest apiece who email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with 3 things:

  • What is the most honorable thing you've done in your life?
  • Best email address for me to let you know if you're one of the 25.
  • Best phone number for me to let you know if you're one of the 25.

Email me by Wednesday, April 3rd and I'll hit you back on Friday, April 5th if your one of the 25. We Are Glamily Too!
