Tom Ford And Lady Gaga Bring A Soul Train To The Runway

By Jessica McKinney

October 2nd, 2015

Tom Ford taking a different approach to fashion this season. The acclaimed fashion designer decided to mix cinema and high fashion, presenting a video runway of his Spring 2016 collection.

Prior to his release earlier today, the designer told WWD, "Instead of having a traditional show this season, I decided to try something new. I wanted to think about how to present a collection in a cinematic way that was designed from its inception to be presented online."

What better way to achieve a cinematic concept than get the queen of cinematic music videos and performances, Lady Gaga. It’s been a minute since Gaga has released any music of her own, but she breaks out her unique voice with a cover of Chic’s "I Want Your Love". With Gaga’s cover in the background, the video features a soul train of dancing models debuting the spring collection.

Aside from the lineup of models and Gaga voguing down the runway, the collection itself gives retro vibes with metallic colors, leather, and vibrant patterns. However, Lady Gaga isn’t really rocking the collection as expected. When the video cuts to the platinum blonde starlet, she’s usually in no more than a mesh top or lace underwear set.

This is an interesting approach to doing Fashion Week, but apparently this won’t be the last of Tom Ford’s unconventional cinema. The designer is supposedly working on a second film entitled, “Nocturnal Animals” starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Amy Adams.

In the meantime, take a look at Tom Ford’s runway video featuring Lady Gaga above.
